Makeover Time

April 11, 2018

Almost seven years ago, I made a site called "Superpowered Love" when I sold my romance first novel, Equilibrium, to Loose Id. Before that book was even published, I already had the next two sent off to the editor, and I knew this was gonna be a long and awesome road. Late last year, book 8 in the series, The Takedown, dropped. And I'm not quite finished, either. Somewhere in there, people started referring to the series itself as "Superpowered Love"--so Loose Id rolled with it, and I loved it.

Now, as I work on Book 9, Loose Id is winding down its last month of sales. On May 15, all of its books will start disappearing from online retailers. For me, it's an end to an amazing era.

But it's also the beginning of a new one. The "Superpowered Love" series--and all my other work--will be finding new life starting this summer. Partly through relationships with other publishers I've come to know and love over the past few years, and partly through things I'm gonna do with other authors or on my own. I'm feeling pretty good about all this, and I'll have announcements in May for sure, so stay tuned.

In a similar vein, it's been a big couple of months--year, even--for queer romance and romance in general. A lot of issues that need to be more widely talked about, in particular abuse and racism in the industry, are finally getting the attention they deserve. This is mostly thanks to a few brave people, both people who've been directly abused and authors of color who are sharing their experiences, speaking out. I love and support these people and can't thank them enough. I'm gonna boost their signals when and where I can.

A lot of this is part of my decision to take on more self-publishing and independent projects. Those of you on social media might have seen the joint statement issued by authors of the wlw Rose & Thorn series, formerly of Riptide, stating that we'll now be going it alone. But not alone--actually together. ♥ But I'm also excited to keep working with Less Than Three Press, who've always been amazing.

It's a new chapter for me, and so I figured it was time for a site makover. Ta-dah!

And now, I'm gonna fuck off to France for a few weeks, because sweet Jesus, I need a vacation. Catch you on the flipsside--or if you're a social media kid like me, catch you there. More to come upon my return!

The Case of the Man Eater is ON SALE!

December 26, 2017

Happy Holidays, everyone! Here's to a much better 2018, amiright? Now to figure out what I'm doing for New Years... something auspicious. Very auspicious.

For now, though, what could be more fun than a new book? Come and get it!

Wolf-Beast and ex-cop Lowell Kanaan recently brought his boyfriend, Elementalist and mystery author John Tilney, into the PI business with him. They've been solving cases for Boston's varied praeternatural communities ever since. So when a young Terran feels that the brutal murder of his Beast boyfriend isn't being treated seriously enough by the police, he brings the case to Kanaan & Tilney for a second opinion.

Similarly defiled corpses pop up around Boston as they race to find the killer. All the victims are packless Beasts, like Lowell, and the vicious nature of the killings stir up old prejudices in the praeternatural community, Beast and otherwise. Throw a personal vendetta and some ugly family history for Lowell in the mix, and the trails are as muddy as ever.

This case will test Kanaan & Tilney's strength, both as a PI team and a couple. It'll take all they have to keep each other alive—and stop a serial killer.

Come and get it at Loose Id--to take advantage of their epic, yearly "What I really wanted for Christmas" sale for the last time--or these awesome retailers.

Loose Id News and What's Next (Hint: Kanaan & Tilney!)

December 4, 2017

Some of you will have heard by now, but in case anyone hasn't, my publisher for six and a half years now, Loose Id, will be closing its doors in 2018. It's been a long and exciting journey for me with them, and I'm super grateful for them giving me my start and my dream editor, Raven McKnight.

In mid-May, all of my books with them will become unavailable, but not for long. Some will be re-homed and others will be re-released by me, but nothing will disappear forever. That said, nearly every single title of mine is on sale right now at the LI site. I specifically recommend picking up a copy of Kanaan & Tilney: The Case of the Arms Dealers because...

On December 26th, the second Kanaan & Tilney Investigation is coming! Click through for more info, but check out that cover by Dar Albert! Wooo ♥ Doesn't Lowell look PERFECTLY broody?

Witchy Boys 2!

October 17, 2017

Cover by Natasha Snow Designs

The follow-up to last year's Witchy Boys is here! Witchy Boys 2 contains two shorts, one about a whole new couple of guys and one that continues the story of Thackeray (with bonus demon, Seir!) and Matt from last year. In case you don't remember them...

Thackeray and Matt by Panda Capuccino

'Tis the season for spooky, sexy stories. Welcome to the second installment of Witchy Boys, containing two more novelettes about men with magic.
Bourbon Barrel Blues
City boy and Post reporter Alex Sanchez is looking for the next hot story when he stumbles across word of Kentucky's Bourbon Barrel Witch. After a few bribes and a long trek through the woods, he finds his quarry, but Murph is not the witch he was expecting.
Young, fine, and dreaming of leading his brand of Appalachian witchcraft into the light, Murph agrees to let Alex write about him. assuming Alex can win his trust. With some magical homebrew for help, they make good progress both in and out of bed. But Alex isn't even sure he believes in magic, and they soon discover that bringing this story to the people might be more dangerous than they expected.
Tattoo You
A continuation of Matt and Thackeray's story from "Præsidium", "Tattoo You" picks up a year later. Thackeray is still hunting evil with the help of his demonic haunting, Seir—but now they have Matt's witchery to help them as well. The work is getting easier, but Matt and Thackeray's relationship is stunted by Seir's demon voyeurism.
A call for help comes from a well-known alchemist—the one who gave Thackeray his protective tattoo. The hunters race to Louisiana to help, but Seir's had about all he can take of this intolerable situation. Thack has the nagging feeling Matt might have, too. He'll have to navigate a demonic infestation and a relationship minefield to keep the man he loves, tonight.

Oh, and don't forget, the original Witchy Boys is still available for zero dollars at instafreebie :D
