It all began with a prompt from Miya Kressin at the M/M Goodreads group. It turned into a trilogy of novellas known as Fairy Compacts.
Fairy Compacts: The Trilogy
Cover art by Ruxandra Lache |
Aeron stepped through the tear in the worldfabric to meet his destiny at last. Instead, he found a shy young forest-priest with halting speech and a ridiculous smile—who claimed to know absolutely nothing about why his voice had been stuck in Aeron's head for decades. Not to mention why they both have the strange feeling they've been bound, somehow, for a very long time.
Tammas tries his hardest to unravel this riddle—and not to be too pleased by Aeron’s presence. That voice in his head was his only friend for long years, and Aeron’s magic both complements and augments his own in the most beautiful ways. But just as their affection for each other is deepening, they discover the origin of the bond is darker than either of them imagined.
In this omnibus edition of all three Fairy Compacts novellas, follow the adventures of the earnest, mendicant mortal Tam and the snarky, winged fairy Aeron. Together, they navigate their growing affection and the sins of their parents in The Dangers of Fairy Compacts; investigate fae court intrigue and the unsettling practice of thralldom in Life as a Fairy Thrall; and face their own greatest fears and mortal prejudices to fight for their home in Fairy Bound.
Life as a Fairy Thrall and Fairy Bound contain beautiful illustrations by Ruxandra Lache.
This is an omnibus re-release of all three Fairy Compacts novellas, collected for convenience. Each of the novellas is available separately below. Apart from covers, there are no differences in content between the separate and omnibus editions. The first book in the series/omnibus is available for free below; the omnibus will be priced the same as buying books two and three separately.

Individual Novellas
Fairy Compacts #1: The Dangers of Fairy Compacts
Cover art by C. Bernard |
When Aeron heard the summons from the mortal realm, he couldn't resist. The voice, the one that had been echoing through his dreams since he was just a boy, the one everyone thought meant he was going mad just like his mother, was real. And it was mortal.
Aeron stepped through the tear in the worldfabric to meet his destiny. Instead, he found a shy young forest-priest with halting speech and a ridiculous smile--who claimed to know absolutely nothing about why his voice had been stuck in Aeron's head for decades. Not to mention why they both have the strange feeling they've been bound, somehow, for a very long time.
Fairy Compacts is the story of two men, one fae, one mortal, who share a terrible history of which neither is aware. Whether or not their budding affection for one another can overcome the shock of finding out the truth, only time will tell. But this is for certain: one should never make fairy compacts.

Fairy Compacts #2: Life as a Fairy Thrall
Cover art by Ruxandra Lache |
Before Tammas and Aeron have time to adjust to their new situation, Kamala brings trouble to their door. Firez, her nephew and Tam's old school-friend--and very nearly more--has lost his sister to fairy kidnapping. He can't get her back without fae help.
Aeron agrees to help find her, but only if Firez will make a compact: if they manage to save his sister from life as an unwilling fairy thrall, he must give them something they want. So begins a clever, dangerous charade calculated to trick some of the highest, most devious nobles of the Faerie Court. But if Tam doesn't get out of Faerie intact, a compact won't do him, or Aeron, much good at all.
Fairy Thrall contains internal illustrations by Ruxandra Lache. It will be available for free in early August to those who contributed to the For Raven campaign, and for sale to all on September 1, 2012.

At last, Tammas has his fondest wish--a teaching position in the monastery-school--and he and Aeron have settled into a comfortable life. But their adventures in Faerie come back to haunt them when the girl they rescued from thralldom begins stirring up trouble in town.
They're already questioning whether they can truly belong to each other forever. Under the rising threat of discovery or worse, Aeron and Tam wonder if they might lose the home they love so much, too. With everything slipping away, hard choices must be made... before the world makes the choices for them.
Fairy Bound also contains two internal illustrations by Ruxandra Lache. The Special Edition only available to contributors to 2012’s For Raven campaign also contains one bonus illustration of Suchi. A collected edition may become available late this year.
